Hi,
I am 36 years old. I have one of those CUTE faces. I think I will look enternally young, which is a-okay with me (heck I still get carded for being alcohol!) but I don't pull off sexy very well becuase of it.
I am fortunately married to a wonderful man who loves me for who I am (maybe even moreso than I love myself sometimes - at least he is far more accepting!) but becuase I am "cute" I sometimes feel like I have trouble getting people to accept me as a mature woman.
Anyone else with this issue?

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Fri, November 11, 2005 - 4:15 PMYeeeeeeeeeah...
I get accused of "cute" as well. And sexy? *snicker* What VERY little of it there is seems to be completely inadvertant... and usually the male reaction is... "aw... she's so sweet...and cute... and so totally unconscious that it's happening... wow, that's kind of sexy..."
I feel ya, babe. I really do. -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 8:05 AMCute works for me. It's much better than "hag."
I can't do sexy either. I want to be smoldering and sexy, all vamp-like, but I just end up looking like Minnie Mouse on qualudes. -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Fri, November 18, 2005 - 8:26 AMI get told I am cute and I feel sorta weird cause I think I can't be cute at my age (52) and... I have never felt cute.. Now I just wanta age gracefully. For years my friend used to pinch my cheek and say you are so cute... now the difference is the skin holds that pinched fold longer. -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Tue, November 22, 2005 - 10:31 AMCute? I may have been cute when I was a toddler, but soon outgrew that.
I'll be happy to be considered not too bad looking.

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sun, March 30, 2008 - 4:32 PMThree years have passed since I wrote this. I am now 55. Much has changed. I QUIT smoking and I feel so much younger. I eat a very smart diet, weigh what I did at 18, and still dance 5 days a week. I really like this time of life....no periods, hot flashes, nursing babies, zits, roller coaster emotions..all over! Now a few more grey hairs and lots of pictures to take. yahoo.

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Fri, November 25, 2005 - 5:36 PMI have been getting the "Cute" thing my entire life.
I've come to terms with that.
But, it's been odd...for the past year I've been getting "sexy". It makes me giggle...it took me 40 years to get "sexy". I have to work it while I got it. ;) -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sat, November 26, 2005 - 8:54 AMI have also been called "cute" all my life. It feels really weird to be described that way as a full-grown woman, but I get it all the time.
I've also been described as "little girl" by people who have been to my tribal fusion troupe's performances and I realize it's probably because I'm petite. I take after my mom, who will be 80 in January and she's also described as "cute."
It does have its advantages as far as perceived youth, etc., but I admit I'd rather it was "sexy" at this point. ;)

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sat, November 26, 2005 - 10:00 AMLOL well I must be Uugggllleeeee now cz last week I went to 'a Spinal & Sports specialist' & he asked when my license pic was taken, I said a few years ago & he says
...are you ready... .."Hmmmm this illness has taken its toll on you.... I mean not that yr... not... uhhh... good looking.... I..uhhh....mean....."
Thanks doc for yr opinion.
He stuck his foot further into his big mouth by saying
"well men don't usually look at a womans face they look at her...I mean I wasn't looking at yr breasts... I mean ...
I'M a Doctor!"
But he saved himself by commending my intelligence & saying it's a shame I had lost my bloom & being a very good doctor if not always socially adept *o*
Maybe it's time to look for a cosmeticnip & tuck. Do you think if we get a woman President that we could get Medicare to cover some important ego threatening surgeries???
If this is double posted it's my cats fault for a sudden fall over on the keys -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Fri, April 21, 2006 - 11:34 PMLadies, if you want a man's point of view the term sexy has more to do with how intelligent and giving you are more than looks...in my humble opinion, if a woman can stimulate my mind with intelligence and personality as well as give me a good reason to give by giving of herself, that to me is sexy. -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sat, April 22, 2006 - 4:10 AMYou are the type of man that we need to clone.
Well, ok, not clone, 'cuz that would be just hideously boring.
My own hubby feels the same way. His opinion is that looks come & go, people lose & gain weight, they have surgeries & accidents & get scars; their core, however, remains essentially the same.
For the record, I am just 5ft tall & have eternally been referred to as "cute".
I usually like to respond with a good-natured: "Yeah. Well, I may be cute, but I can kick your ass. Mighty Mouse was small, too." -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sat, April 22, 2006 - 12:16 PMThnk you jukki that was sweet of you to say...but if they cloned me that would mean Id bebeside myself HA!!
I have always believed that love and/or marriage is a 2 way street. If one person is not giving, is there a reason that he or she is not, for example is partner#1 not receptive to partner #2's gifts and vice versa? Or, is one of them just selfish? Sometimes, if a member of a relationship is not having his or her needs met, he or he sometimes must figure out the reason. One has to be confident and totally receptive to having their needs met and must also feel deserving of those needs being met. -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sun, April 23, 2006 - 3:50 PMI'm 5 feet tall as well. I've always looked younger than my age and "cute". I hated this growing up, but now it's working out fine. -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sun, April 23, 2006 - 4:16 PMI just hope to god someone can look at me when Im old and think Im cute! It could be sooooooooooo way worse than that!

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sat, January 19, 2008 - 7:48 AMWHAT A DOLT!!!!! You have such a lithe figure, long neck, and gorgeous high cheekbones; I don't care if the guy is a physician, he is just plain stupid, and that's not a word I use lightly. I hope he was embarrassed (and there can't be 'embarass' without the 'ass'!). Sorry, just a mild rant and the honest truth. Keep on dancing!

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Thu, May 4, 2006 - 8:13 AMI hope for the day when how we look as we age is celebrated no matter "cute", wrinkled, blotchy or otherwise. It is much more important how we carry ourselves, how we move, how we smile or the look in our eyes. I am new to dance and 48 years old. My goal? To learn to move so well that I communicate beauty, confidence and grace though my dance no matter my age or my look. -

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Mon, May 15, 2006 - 5:50 PMThe thing about "cute" is that you can get away with alot. My friend Coco LaCreme, a burlesque performer, is totally "cute"...which means that she gets away with murder on stage when the tassles start to fly.
Pulling of "sexy" is a skill that can learned easy enough.
*grin*

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Fri, January 25, 2008 - 7:31 AMI hear ya!
I'm turning 40 this year, and there are times when I still get carded when buying alcohol.
But on the flip side is that eternal "cute" factor. To make matters worse, I'm 5'6" and my boyfriend is just about the same height as me. So now we get dubbed the "cute couple"....
You're such a "cute couple" Aarrgh!

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sat, January 26, 2008 - 8:30 PMCute used to bother me. I would hear, that's such a cute dance routine, you look so cute in that...In my 30's and 40's I wanted to be seen as "hot smoldering sex oozing vamp." In the past five years I have learned to accept and love myself for exactly who I am...if that is "cute" in the eyes of others then so be it. My guy thinks I am "sexy" at the wierdest times...everyone is unique I think.
Usually it is a very nice compliment because b**t**y witches are NOT cute, ugly personalities are not referred to as "cute". Cute is a cover all for pleasant inside and out....
I now realize it is a nice thing to be referred to as...AND one can be cute and sexy.... Run with girls... its all good.....( Oh and guys, Cute is good on you tooo)

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sun, January 27, 2008 - 3:38 PMI actually like it........it is a pain though when I go out with my younger husband (13 years younger) that they only ask me for my i.d. when I don't have it with me because he drives us there. So, sometimes I have to ask him ahead of time if he's going to be drinking alcohol and if not, can he order one and give it to me (tee hee hee).

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Tue, February 5, 2008 - 7:55 PMI completely understand, having been referred to as cute all my life, and desperately wanting to be called pretty, gorgeous, stunning or whatever, even handsome? Now that I'm 63 and married to a man who loves my looks, and calls me beautiful, I STILL, get called cute anyway. Maybe its no longer socially appropriate to refer to a silver haired woman as cute ? I dunno --- but ya pays yer money, ya takes yer chances, huh? -
-
Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Wed, February 6, 2008 - 12:25 PMI don't mind being called cute...I'm a short 5'2" and I dance with all these tall lovelys but what ever! I'll take a compliment any way it comes, well almost any way...
I think there are lots of silver haired women that are cute! My mom is #1 on my list!

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Fri, February 8, 2008 - 10:25 PMLOL on the carded. I still to this day wont buy alcohol cause every single time I get so embarrassed. The last time I went to Las Vegas they made me put on a pink bracelett so they would stop carding me for being in the casino. .. I was like..do you not see all my gray hair??? all pointing it out.. but they still made me wear one. lol -
-
Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Sat, February 9, 2008 - 2:40 PMSounds like we are all pretty okay with the cute thing...yeah there is the carding in some cases...but after a certain number of years get marked off isn''t it a bit fun to have to cmplain about being carded?

Re: What about older, but still considered 'cute'?
Thu, March 27, 2008 - 5:22 AMYES!!! I am 42 and have a sweet-girl-next-door face. I too have a hard time pulling off sexy, but my Bellydance teacher is trying to help me work up a sexy pout (giggles in sleeve).
It helps that my husband thinks I am sexy. It doesn't hurt that my abs are reappearring after a long hiatus.....
