Ok, I'm almost 38 and I'm seeing those awful wrinkles around my eyes! My skin isn't as firm as it used to be either. What do you all use as your daily skin care regimen?

Wed, May 23, 2007 - 3:03 PMLOL No..it wasn't 4:18 am. Well, at least not at MY house. I'm not sure why it shows that time. I've been trying different moisturizers. Some make my face break out. :( I've also been drinking A LOT more water. -

Wed, May 23, 2007 - 3:28 PMI have to have my micro-dermabrasion stuff--you use it 2-3 times a week. It really helps to keep my skin from looking dull. There are several different brands to choose from.

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Fri, June 1, 2007 - 1:16 PMWell I agree with everyone, moisturizer, water, sleep & wear sun screen! And sorry to say it does have something to do with genetics!
I have been lucky to have very good genetics my grandma passed at 92 without any wrinkles!! Just a little bit of crows feet. I'm 45 without any (yet) but I have been good to my face/neck. I have been using, and I swear by it, Anew retroactive moister from Avon. It came out about 8 or 9 years ago and I have been using it every since. I clean my face at night before bed, use a toner, and then put on this before bed. It is great. They also have a eye serum that I use when I get up with the puffy eyes after a night of a lot of tequila. I keep it in the frig, put it on your eyes, with a cold pack for about 5-10 minutes and the puffy is either completely gone or hardly there! Good Stuff!
It works for me!!! But you might have to try a few before you find the right one for you. See below for about the product or you can go to www.avon.com and click on Anew and veiw the whole line.

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Mon, June 4, 2007 - 3:07 AMYou try adding a few drops of pure Rose Otto essential oil to any moisturiser you use.
It has to be Rose Otto preferably steam distilled from Damask roses. Don't buy Rose Absolute which is chemically extracted. It must not be diluted in jojoba or anything else and good oil is expensive but....according to many sources including "Facelift At Your Fingertips" by Pierre Jean Cousin, Rose Otto helps keep dry, aging skin supple and will help diminish redness, fine broken capillaries and wrinkles.
Buy the best oils you can afford, patch test with any essential oil diluted in a carrier, ie, don't test with an undiluted oil. According to Cousin you can add 10 drops of essential oil(s) to each 10mls of carrier oil or cream. If you use more than one oil at a time the total number of drops must not be more than 10 per each 10ml. My regular moisturiser comes in 50ml pots so I can add a maximum total of 50 drops between whatever essential oils I want to add - always Rose Otto, Frankincense and Myrrh and sometimes Lavender for spots, Calendula to soothe or Neroli which is also expensive but very good for aging skin. I don't have to add 50 drops, that's just the maximum amount of drops for 50mls, so you can limit the amount of oil you add and make a little expensive oil go a long way.
I've used essential oils in my moisturiser for the last 10 years or so. I'm 47 and people are constantly surprised when they find out as I'm always told I look far younger. I'm lucky in that genes help out as my Mum certainly looks 15 years younger than her true age but I'm sure the oils make a difference too, plus they smell lovely - Rose Otto in particular smells so gorgeous, I just feel pampered and it lifts the spirits if you're feeling a bit down.
Best wishes,
Kath

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Sat, September 8, 2007 - 6:26 AMWell, I have used Mary Kay products since I was 15 years old. I now sell it to get half off. But I know my skin still looks young because I took care of it EVERYDAY with MK. I am 36 yrs. old.

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Mon, September 10, 2007 - 9:57 AMEvery one seems to have their own favorite product, but the common element is MOISTURIZE - especially the delicate skin around your eyes.
Just in case you care, my favorite product is Arbonne's RE9 line - specifically formulated for skin over the age of 30, with botanically based elements to improve and protect skin's elasticity and tone - and for my VERY sensitive skin the low levels of preservatives used, and the focus on small molecule oils is a big bonus. -

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Thu, September 13, 2007 - 11:09 PMThe Mary Kay TimeWise line . . . and you gotta use it every day. The micro-derm and eye treatment are great! Has one of the best ratings for at-home treatments; the make-up is FABulous (the eyeliner is amazing! it doesn't sweat or smear off during a show of 15 minutes, or a whole day's worth at Ren Faire!); the cleanser is awesome, but I always tell folks to try a little of the moisturizer at a time . . . I actually alternate between Velocity and TimeWise products (both MK) because of my skin being so oily, and yes . . . I now have adult acne because as a teenager, I obviously did not get enough, and the Velocity takes care of that side : ) -

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 12:11 AMThe best thing I ever found was scrubbing every other day with an Apricot scrub like St Ives or Freemans. It takes off dead skin cells, and makes the skin look fresher, thus younger. I'm in my early 60's, and am usually taken for 50's. Now, that may sound inconsequental for some still in 40's, but it sure makes ME feel better and feel prettier. I see alot of women my age who don't appear to use moisturizer, wear no makeup at all, and don't seem to care. Well, call me vain, but ----- well, guess I am. Ha!

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 12:38 AMI'm in my early 60's and usually taken for 50ish. I think its 50% care and the rest is attitude and maybe the right makeup haha. For the last 10 years or so, I've been exfoliating my face and neck every other day, when I shower. I use those tubes of apricot kernel scrubs, ie St Ives or Freemans fromula. Cheap, easy to find at drugstores. After that, a toner, and lots of PM moisturizer. I wish I had done it when I was younger, and partying, drinking, staying up later! I don't smoke anymore, just drink wine or alcohol free beer, and only have fond memories of other, less legal libatons !

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Fri, January 18, 2008 - 10:25 AMi am lucky that my daughter works at a medi-spa that specializes in skin care...she brings me samples of product that i could NEVER afford, to try out for her and she also is on my case constantly (very good) to use sunscreen, use moisturizers, etc. i think the product that i use every day for mosturizing is their own formula, though.

Re: Skin care for aging skin
Fri, January 18, 2008 - 11:10 AMMosturizers on face, neck, arms....all over, plenty of water, sleep, exfoliate, don't smoke and drink moderately. Eat fresh foods, low fat, low sodium. And be happy! I think attitude has a lot to looking and feeling younger too.
